Agriweld Inc. unveils its newest innovation in sprayer products today with the introduction of a floatation front wheel attachment for mid-size tractors. This unique design gives operators an opportunity to have a three wheel vehicle that does not track more than one tire in any area of the applicator footprint on a production platform that offers all of the amenities of today’s tractor technologies. This floatation attachment package is an enhancement to other applicator attachment tools offered by Agriweld to turn production tractors into crop applicators for commercial agriculture.
The package includes a suspension style swing arm fork with twin air springs capable of up to 8000 pounds of live load. The air springs are adjustable for different loads, and offer smooth riding in the roughest of field conditions. An open front allows easy tire access for changes to different applications or repairs. A 50 inch wide swing arm allows a massive 66 x 44.00-25 tire for maximum floatation on the front. This can be combined with the same tire package at the rear axles for a potential of up to 3000 square inches of total tire displacement. The advantage could be as little as 4 pounds per square inch of ground pressure depending on the applicator attachment package that is equipped and the tractor chassis chosen. An optional 68 x 50.00-32 Firestone tire can be used on the rear for additional floatation if rear mount only attachments are chosen.

One of the most innovative features of the new front fork design is the use of a hydraulic rotary actuator built by Helac Corporation. This actuator provides all of the support for the load as well as the hydraulic turning needs. The actuator is incorporated into a structure that provides strength and flexibility for the type of application this vehicle requires without adding unnecessary weight. Some minor modifications to the tractor steering circuit is required to accommodate the increased hydraulic flow to the actuator, and required parts are incorporated in the attachment kits. Kit frames will be designed to fit several brands of tractors as requested and it is expected that more than one model of the fork design for different sizes of tires will become available.
